Mangaluru: For him martial arts is a matter of controlling mind, body and spirit through immense practice. Vikith M Jogi, a mechanical designer by profession in UAE, is also a martial art practitioner. He has won the gold medal in the second Hong Kong Tournament Karatedo Championship organised by Eagle Commando International Martial Arts Society Shikodon in Hong Kong, recently.
Vikith M hailed from a poor family in Suratkal. During his schooling, he completed his black belt in Karate. After completing his Diploma in Mechanical Engineering in KPT and Masters in Diploma in Mechanical Designing, Vikith went to Dubai for a job. There he was trained in Jeeth Kune-Do (a Karate form introduced by Bruce Lee) by Master Sijo Yuksel Yilmaz (President, Jeet Kune-Do Federation of Turkey and a disciple of Bruce Lee).
“Representing India and lifting the Tricolour in an International Karate Championship competition was my dream. I realised my dream first by winning a bronze medal in Asian Jeeth Kune-Do Championship held at Sri Lanka in 2017. Later, I won gold medal in International Karate Championship in Hong Kong recently”, said Vikith, in an exclusive chat with newskarnataka.com.”
He quipped, “Jeeth Kune-Do was designed by Bruce Lee and taught to few disciples. Martial arts is not just a fight but it is a technique used for a self-defence.” Vikith is not only a expert in martial arts but also a good Mechanical Design Engineer at Beta Group of companies (Precision) who have won the Siemens Award in Hyderabad.
“I have realised my dream in Karate after winning in the international Karate competitions. Now I am shifting my focus to Kick Boxing and Boxing. I am practising both forms with Sean (General Secretary, France Power Kick Boxing Federation) and Mostafa Elzark (President, World Kick Boxing Federation, UAE). Representing India for 2020 Olympics in Kick Boxing or Boxing is my biggest dream”, he says.
Vikith has also been invited from Old Martial Arts Association for prestigious Hall Of Fame in Thailand in 2018. In 2016, he was appointed as President of UAE Jeeth Kune-Do.
Now Vikith is also training few students in Jeeth Kune-Do Karate in UAE. He says that Yoga and martial arts help the children to improve their concentration. Forming an academy, he wants to contribute to the field of agriculture and defence in India with innovations.
