Mangaluru: Has the BJP High Command already decided to field sitting MP Nalin Kumar Kateel once again from Mangaluru Lok Sabha constituency in the upcoming general elections? As the top leaders of BJP have been appealing to the public to re-elect Nalin, it seems that Nalin Kumar Kateel would contest from the Mangaluru Lok Sabha constituency again.
Some of the leaders from Congress blame Nalin Kumar Kateel for not being able to speak either in English or Hindi language properly. They claim that as Nalin does not know how to communicate in both the languages, he has failed to bring in funds from the union government to undertake developmental works.
However, during a mass convention at B C Road on Friday, January 25, MP and former state president of BJP Prahlad Joshi asked the public to re-elect Nalin Kumar Kateel. During his speech, he informed that though Nalin does not know both Hindi and English language properly, he was able to secure the highest grants from the union government for the development works to his constituency. Though he doesn't know English or Hindi language, he knows the language of the heart, which is very necessary for an elected representative", he said.
Union Minister of State for Drinking Water and Sanitation Ramesh Jigajinagi also appealed to the public in the same programme to elect Nalin Kumar Kateel once again from Mangaluru. With this appeal by both the BJP leaders, it seems like the party high command has already finalised the name of Nalin Kumar Kateel from Mangaluru Lok Sabha constituency once again.
However, there is a rumour among the public that MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has failed to secure the confidence of public though he was voted to power twice from the Mangaluru Lok Sabha constituency. Citing the slow progress of work on both Pumpwell and Thokkottu flyovers, public opines that Nalin has failed to complete it within the stipulated period.
Hence, it is also said that BJP High Command is planning to field new face from Mangaluru Lok Sabha constituency. Sathyajith Suratkal, a Hindu firebrand leader and DK district BJP General Secretary Captain Brijesh Chowta are intending to contest and they have been trying to secure tickets to contest from Mangaluru Lok Sabha constituency, sources say. However, they have not openly revealed their wish so far.
I am an aspirant of LS ticket: Sathyajith Suratkal
Meanwhile, Sathyajith Suratkal told newskarnataka.com that he is an aspirant for the ticket to contest from Mangaluru Lok Sabha constituency. "As I have been identified in the Hindu outfits and working for BJP from the past 36 years, I have a right to seek the ticket. Though I had intended to contest during the last Assembly election, I was denied the ticket. Hence, I am trying to obtain a ticket for Lok Sabha election", he said.
