ban pakr1Daaku and Chhavi (Mrs. Daaku) our intrepid travel bloggers decided to visit the breath-taking Bannerghatta National Park. They drove down on a Saturday morning to explore and experience the rich flora and fauna at the National Park. Here they are again, sharing their experience with you…

Who does not like spending time with nature? It is peaceful, calming and apprises you with the most beautiful creations of God.

Why are we telling you this? Because it had been almost a year since we had shifted to Bengaluru and I had not visited Bannerghatta yet. So, yes, it was the highlight of the weekend.

It was time to explore my own city! If you live in Bengaluru and haven’t been to Bannerghatta National park, you should plan it right away. All you need is a weekend morning to enjoy nature and get away from the hustle-bustle of city life!

Before we go on and talk about our experience, let’s talk a little about the National Park. Besides being a National Park, Bannerghatta is also a biological reserve. It houses a zoo, pet corner, rescue center, butterfly enclosure, snake house, a safari park and a place to boat.

It is hardly 10-12 km from our place so we decided to drive down. We left early in the morning so we do not miss out on the morning safari. You can book tickets online and if you do not want to, reach there before 10 AM to catch the first safari.

Also, you want to arrive early so you can grab the window seat on the bus for a better view. We arrived a little after 10 AM but were able to grab one. The ride is approx 25-30 mins and they take you from the inside of the park to the main entrance again.

Unfortunately, the doors will be closed and windows of the bus are protected with an iron net. The guide inside the bus will help you spot animals from a distance. Be ready with the camera if you want to capture natural pictures.

After the safari is over, you will be ready for the Zoo and Butterfly Park. As soon as we entered the zoo, we spotted peacocks around. The other animals in the zoo include tigers, bear, deer, monkeys, crocodiles, lion, Thamin deer, Hog deer, King Cobra, Himalayan black bear, Panthers etc

Besides this, there is also a snake world which is quite interesting. You can easily watch for rat snake, pythons, etc. After that, we decided to visit the butterfly garden. You can see a variety of colorful butterflies, flowers and fish. It’s breath-taking!

There is also a museum which showcases animal trophies, skeletons, photographs, fossils etc having high educational value. We did not get a chance to visit but we will plan another trip to see the things that we missed the first time.

Last but not least, we went boating. It is close to the zoo and you can end your day by riding a boat.

If you are hungry, you can grab a quick bite at Mayura Vanashree. It is a Government-run restaurant in the vicinity of the zoo but if you are looking for a fine dining experience, go to Hill View. It is run by Jungle Lodges and Resorts and is also located within the zoo premises.

The following facilities are available at the National Park

– Parking space
– Drinking water
– Restroom
– Baby Care Unit
– Sit out benches and pergolas

There you go. If you haven’t already planned out, do it right away and visit the incredible Bannerghatta National Park in the city of Bengaluru
