Mangaluru: Nitte Institute of Communication (NICO), unit of Nitte University will host its third national-level media fest-‘Beacons 2016’ on March 8 and 9 for all the under graduate and post graduate students of all the streams across India.
NICO Head of Department Prof Raviraj Kini, addressing a press meet said that the fest will be inaugurated by prominent film maker B S Lingadevaru of ‘Nanu Avanalla Avalu’ fame, at the college campus in Derlakatte. The inaugural ceremony will be presided over by Vishal Hegde, pro chancellor of Nitte University.
Over 15 colleges from Karnataka will take part in the fest, he said adding that apart from film symposium, the first day of the event will witness competitions on creative writing, moview spoofs etc.
On second day, the film symposium will have well-known documentary film maker Natesh Ullal as resource person.
“The second day will also see the participation of students in crisis management, face painting, media quiz. mock press and mime show. The valedictory ceremony will be presided over by Natesh Ullal.
NICO Faculty Co-ordinator Deekshita Prashanth among others were present.
