Mangaluru: On the occasion of World Physiotherapy day 2015, the Department of Physiotherapy, Father Muller Medical College, in association with Mangalore Round Table-115 and Mangalore Ladies Circle-85, organsied “Improve your Move”, a program to distribute free mobility aids and appliances to 35 beneficiaries from in and around Mangaluru city.
Mobility aids such as wheelchairs, walkers, orthses, braces, spirometers etc were distributed to the disabled citizens, who have difficulty in walking, upper and lower limb weakness, foot deformities and spinal deformities and patients with various types of cancers.
Rev Fr Richard Coelho, Administrator, FMMCH presided over the program, Mr Kenneth Serrao, Chairman MRT-115, Ms Nandita Fernandes, Chairperson MLC-82 were the chief guests.
World Physiotherapy day is celebrated worldwide on September 8th every year. The day is an opportunity for physical therapists to raise awareness about the crucial contribution the profession makes to keep people well, mobile and independent.
Physical therapists play a major role in providing services that develop, maintain and restore people’s movement and functional ability. They can help people at any stage of life, when physical movements are threatened by ageing, injury, diseases, disorders or environmental factors.
Mangalore Round Table-115 and Mangalore Ladies Circle-85 are known for their acts of charity by spreading the sparkle to the lives of less privileged through friendship and service.
