Mangaluru: A J Hospital and Research Centre in association with Rotary International District 3180 launched Cancer Awareness Programme at A J Hospital Conference Hall on Wednesday, March 2.
The main objective of this programme would be spreading awareness of cancer along with early detection and treatment. Screening camps will be held.
Dr Kamalaksh K Shenoy, A J Hospital gave a brief introduction about cancer as well as the newly launched programme. With the help of Rotary 3180, the emphasis would be on early detection of cancer and treating the same, he said.
Delivering the inaugural address, Dr Bharathesh Adiraj, Governor, Rotary Dist. 3180 said that rotary clubs have been providing impartial service in regards to maternity and child health, basic education and other fields. "People were earlier scared if it was cancer. But now early detection and treatment is helping in changing the mindset" he added.
A J Shetty, President of A J Group of Institutions in his presidential address said that cancer affects all age group and is commonly found these days. Test and early detection of cancer is very important for providing the best treatment. He thanked Rotary for its association for a year from now in spreading awareness.
Dr Prashanth Marla, medical director of A J hospital and research centre and others were present.
Dr Naveen Rodrigues delivered the vote of thanks.
