Mumbai: Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi has been provided police protection for 24 hours ahead of the release of his film "PM Narendra Modi", as he has reportedly been receiving death threats.
Oberoi was threatened by Naxalites and as a result, his security was beefed up on Thursday during a special screening of the film, according to a report by the Times of India.
It can be recalled that the actor dcrew the public's ire by posting a meme on Twitter, poking fun at actress Aishwarya Rai's love life and comparing it to the Lok Sabha election results. The meme termed her relationship with Salman Khan as the "opinion poll", her relationship with himself the "exit poll" and her relationship with Abhishek Bachchan the "result". Major personalities such as Anupam Kher and Sonam Kapoor, as well as the National Commission for Women, hit back at him and asked him to issue a public apology. After initial attempts to defend himself, Oberoi finally apologised for his post and subsequently deleted the same.
Modi's biopic is all set to be released tomorrow.
