Dharwad: A little awareness does not hurt anybody. Making children aware of certain aspects of daily life can, as recent developments will attest, be beneficial.
A young girl of std. eight recently got a district judge to solve her family’s land dispute… just by writing a letter! The pen really is mightier than the sword… at least some times. Do not, under any circumstance, take a pen to a sword fight… you have been warned… but I digress.
Rekha Mysore, a student of Presedential school, presently residing in the Backward Classes Hostel in Dharwad, attended a legal awareness programme conducted at her school by the District Legal Service Authority. What she learned, gave her the idea to write a letter to the judge, seeking his help in solving the land dispute.
The genius move worked, as District Sessions Judge Ramchandra Huddar, ordered an inquiry into the matter and resolved the issue in just four days.
Rekha’s mother, Sanvakka, leased a 2.4 acre land that she owned, to one Abdul Doddmani of the same village as herself, Kavalgeri. The land was leased to Doddmani for Rs 4 lakhs.
The lessee however, allegedly produced fake property documents which resulted in the family’s predicament.
