Police crack serial theft cases recover seven bikes, gold

Dharwad: The Dharwad sub-urban police have nabbed a notorious thief wanted in more than a dozen theft cases reported in the city.

A special team was formed to solve the serial house-breaks and bike lifting cases that were reported from various areas in the city.

Briefing media here Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner Pandurang Rane stated that a team of Dharwad sub-urban police arrested one Mohammed Husain Sheikh and recovered 39 grams of gold, nine mobile phones, and seven two-wheelers valuing Rs 3.40 lakh from his possession.

Mohammed Husain, a resident of Malamaddi Gouli Galli, was a tiles fixer and he had stolen gold ornaments, two-wheelers and mobile phones from houses in Kelgeri, Anjaneya Nagar, Basaveshwar Nagar, U B Nagar, Mahamane Extension, Miskin Layout, and Malamaddi.

Following a series of thefts, the commissioner had formed a special squad to solve the cases. The team nabbed Mohammed Husain at Hoysal Nagar.

Mr Rane said, the police had introduced a new beat system to prevent crimes, and sought people’s co-operation in this regard.
