Dharwad: Principal District & Sessions Judge Ramchandra Huddar has stressed on the need to provide legal education to children. Hence, the first chapters of law should begin from home itself, he felt.
Speaking after inaugurating the legal literacy programme series for school children at the RLS High School in Dharwad, the Judge said mother the first teacher of the child, plays an important role in making it a responsible citizen. With an intention to educate children on laws, the authority has decided to hold legal literacy programmes in all the schools across the district, he added.
“Malpractices take place in schools during examinations and this crime is committed by students who are not aware that it is a crime. If the students are taught at the basic level, then there are less possibilities of they committing mistakes or crimes in future,” the judge opined.
Emphasis has been given to declare schools as tobacco-free schools. This measure has been taken to see that children do not fall prey to bad habits and spoil their health, he said.
