Dharwad: The Karnataka University will confer the honorary doctorate degree on renowned poet V C Airsang at its 67th annual convocation to be held on March 4 at Gandhi Bhavan in the varsity campus at 11 am.
The University had received 21 applications/ recommendations for the honorary doctorate degree. The Chancellor of the Universities in Karnataka and Governor Vajubhai Vala has cleared the name of Airsang for the award.
In a release issued by the Karnataka University, Vice Chancellor Pramod Gai has said that the Vice Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and eminent scientist M Jagadesh Kumar will deliver the convocation address, while Higher Education Minister Basavaraj Rayaraddy who is also the pro-chancellor will preside over the function.
In all, 91 candidates will share 190 gold medals at the convocation and 130 candidates will be awarded PhD degrees. Minister Rayaraddy will distribute the rank certificates, prizes, scholarships and other certificates at a separate function to be held at Gandhi Bhavan at 3:30 pm, VC said.
