Dharwad: The Department of State Educational Research & Training (DSERT) is planning to train around 50,000 teachers in the state using modern technology, to enhance the knowledge and efficiency of teachers in their specialised subject and other subjects of their choice, under “Guruchetana” programme.

DSERT Director H N Gopalkrishna who chaired a progressive review meeting at the District Institute of Education &Training (DIET) in Dharwad, said the Teachers’ Training Management System (TTMS) had been developed for this programme and 112 resource persons trained in 28 modules.
Taluk level nodal officers would upload the teachers’ training evaluation report on the department’s website regularly, he added.

In each DIET, Teachers’ Learning Centre (TLC) is being set up to help teachers get online support for the technology they need, he said.

The teachers’education programme is being implemented through the DIET, for which Rs 25 Lakh has been provided to each DIET.

Lower primary school teachers without DEd or TCH, who were appointed earlier, are now ordered to get the training compulsorily. DIET has to supervise this training in the district. The DSERT has planned to organise training in drawing, craft, music, agriculture and other subjects for around 5,500 teachers across the state, he added.

DIET Principal Sumangala Kuchinad and others were present.
