Dharwad DC warns of filing criminal case if funds not utilised

Dharwad: Deputy Commissioner Dr. S B Bommanahalli has warned officials of of all departments for strict implementation of welfare schemes meant for the Scheduled Caste & Scheduled Tribes.

Presiding over a meeting of district-level officials at the progress review meeting of welfare schemes for SC and ST beneficiaries at DC office in Dharwad Bommanahalli said every department has to compulsorily submit a report on fund utilisation for SCP before April 5. The officials who fail to disclose information would be dealt with sternly, he warned.

The progress rate of funds utilization under different schemes related to SC, ST welfare is 46%, by March end the progress rate should be 100%, he directed.

The government has directed to initiate criminal proceedings against those who fail to utilise cent percent funds. Hence, the officials have to step up their works and see that funds do not get lapsed.

From next fiscal, the officials should not wait till funds are released as per the action plan. Once the action plan is approved, the works should commence. This would help in reaching the target at the end of the fiscal, the DC said.

ZP CEO R Snehal said, officials have to show concern in reaching the targets and give focus on effective implementation of the schemes.
