Dharwad CRPF soldier killed in naxal operation

Dharwad: A 31-year-old CRPF soldier from Dharwad died in a naxal operation here in Gadchiroli district in Maharashtra on November 26.

Manjunatha Jakkannanavar is the martyr.

Manjunath who was serving in CRPF’s 113th battalion for the last 12 years, was hit by 6 bullets and died on the spot.

The Dharwad District Administration on November 28 said that the mortal remains would be brought to the city and kept for public viewing at R N Shetty stadium. Later, it will be taken to his village and laid to rest with full state honours.

Manjunatha completed his early education in Managundi. He finished PUC in Navaloor and Graduation at Anjuman College in Dharwad.

He was selected to CRPF in the year 2005.

He is survived by wife Lalitha, 3-year-old son Ganesh, 2-year-old daughter Laxmi, father Shivalingappa and mother Rathnavva.
