Dharwad: Transparency could be ensured in administration by following cashless transactions which keeps the corruption menace away, said Minister of State for Drinking water and Sanitation Ramesh Jigajinagi.
Speaking after inaugurating the DG Dhan Mela organised under the auspices of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and the state government at Kalabhavan here on Saturday, Jigajinagi said DG Dhan Mela was being organised in 100 select cities across the country to create awareness among people on e-cash transactions.
DG Dhan Melas help people to know more about digital payment and its usages. More than 60 such melas have been already organised in the country, he said adding that digital transactions were necessary to keep corruption at bay.
The Neeti Ayoga has kept Rs. 150 Crore under Lucky Customer Scheme to distribute awards to the customers. The Centre has proposed to open around 25 crore bank accounts, he disclosed.
Former chief minister Jagadish Shettar and MP Pralhad Joshi also spoke. MLA Aravind Bellad presided over. DC Dr. S B Bommanahalli and other officials were present. Poster making and slogan writing competitions were held as part of DG Dhan Mela.
