Dharwad: Hubballi-Dharwad City District Congress Committee members staged a protest at Vivekananda Circle in Dharwad condemning the NDA government for hiking the prices of petroleum products.

Speaking on the occasion, former minister A M Hindasgeri charged that the union government led by Narendra Modi was following anti-people policies, due to which common people were experiencing serious inconvenience.

Though the price of crude oil was high during the UPA regime, the government then did not transfer the burden on common people but it gave subsidy on petroleum products. Later, the BJP which came to power has failed to transfer the benefit of reducing crude oil price to the common people, he lamented.

Congress leader F H Jakkappanavar alleged that the NDA government had failed in giving a good administration after merely delivering emotional speeches.

NWKRTC Chairman Sadanand Danganavar, Devaki Yoganand, Swathi Malagi, Vasanth Arkachar, Hemanth Gurlhosur and others also took part in the protest.

Youth Congress leaders Imran Kadur, Akash Koneri, Wasim Hukkeri, Kashappa Bijwad and others led the protest. An effigy of the union government was also burnt.
