Dharwad: The Congress party leaders filed a complaint against the Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Sriramulu, here on Thursday, May 9 on charges of trying to politicise Kundagol former Congress MLA Late Shivalli’s death.
A committee led by Member of Parliament V S Ugrappa filed a complaint with the Returning Officer stating that Sriramulu had given a misleading statement holding the Congress and Janata Dal (S) state coalition government responsible for former MLA Shivalli’s death.
In the complaint, it is also stated that it was a conspiracy by the BJP to confuse the electorate and create a negative impression about the Congress party in their minds to ensure defeat of the coalition candidate Kusuma Shivalli in Kundagol Assembly by-election.
Ugrappa further mentioned, “It is suspicious why BJP did not they file a complaint earlier, if Shivalli had really died because of the state coalition. It is an offence too if somebody knew the reason for MLA's death and yet kept mum.”
He has submitted Sriramulu’s video statement in a pen drive along with the complaint letter to the Returning Officer.
Meanwhile, Ugrappa also slammed the BJP High Command and said, “BJP Chief Amit Shah and State BJP President B S Yeddyurappa must teach Sriramulu some ethics and lessons on how to speak.”
