Dharwad: Bitten by a special story telecast in electronic media, the members of AYUSH Federation of India, Karnataka held protest infront of the DC office here on Friday against framing of AYUSH doctors as fake doctors in some sections of media and allegedly creating doubts among public.
The protesters raised slogans and entered DC compound to submit a memorandum in this regard and expressed their anguish over a news programme on “fake doctors practicing in rural areas”. They said AYUSH doctors include practitioners from Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, Homeopati fields who have got degrees from the recognised Rajiv Gandhi University.
These doctors have also studied and are trained in Allopathic medicine besides their main subject of profession. They are allowed to practise under Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940 by different states.
Accordingly, the Goverrment of Karnataka too has taken a decision to avail the service of these doctors in PHCs in rural areas. Already these doctors are involved in national rural health programmes and are serving the society.
In emergencies, Allopathic medicines are used to some extent to save lives.
Hence, the media concerned should not portray AYUSH doctors as fake doctors they urged and submitted a memorandum to the district administration for necessary action in this regard.
