You need seers only for election: DKShi attacks BSY

Davangere: Following the episode of Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa losing his cool over Pachamasali sect seer on stage during a programme, Congress leader DK Shivakumar has questioned the BJP as to how it can make use of the seers to garner votes during elections.

It may be recalled that the CM was raged when Panchamasali seer Vachanananda said that the sect will stop supporting Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa if he fails to give cabinet berth to at least three leaders from the sect, including BJP leader Murugesh Nirani.

Responding to this, the CM openly threatened to leave the programme if someone tries to arm-twist him.

“You give me suggestions and I will listen. If you try to threaten me, I will leave. I am not glued to the post, I am ready to leave the post and go back home,” said the CM.

Shivakumar, while addressing the second day of the Veerashaiva Lingayatha Panchamasali Peeth Hara Jathra festival, which is the same event where the Seer versus CM episode took place, said that politicians must have patience.

“We use the mutts and the seers for political mileage and gains,” he said and urged Vachanananda Seer, who was seated on the dais to forget the episode and continue doing the good work that he has been doing so far.

Taking a dig at the BJP, he said that the BJP needs seers to garner votes during the elections, but after that, when a seer keeps forth a demand, the CM gets angry.

Further, he said that all religions talk about the same purpose of life. “We must know that it is the same God, who is being called by different names. We are not born in a particular religion by choice. No religion preaches hatred,” he said training guns at the RSS indirectly for its opposition to the Jesus Christ statue proposed in Kanakapura constituency.
