Davanagere: Making videos for the sake of going viral can land you in some serious trouble, especially if you are doing something illegal or unintelligent… or both. A Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus driver was recently suspended after a video of him handing the wheel of the bus to a Gray langur (Hanuman langur) went viral.
In the video that has been widely circulated on social media over the last few days, Prakash of the KSRTC’s Davanagere division can be seen sitting in the driver’s seat, while the monkey, perched on the steering wheel manoeuvres the bus. The incident occurred in a KSRTC bus that was going from Davanagere to Bharamasagara on October 1.
The bus driver is even seen calmly allowing the langur to steer the wheel while he changes the gear. Reportedly, the langur and his trainer are regular passengers on the bus, however, for the first time, the langur sat on the steering wheel and took the wheel. Several attempts by other passengers to shoo the monkey away went in vain as it refused to move. Apparently, Prakash, being an animal lover, allowed the langur to remain seated on the steering wheel.
Sources have said that the erring driver has been suspended and an inquiry into the incident is being conducted by a divisional security inspector.
