Davanagere: A soldier has been arrested by the Honnali police for allegedly firing at a person for declining his marriage proposal with his daughter.
Devaraj, a soldier of the Indian army working in Uttarakhand is the arrested person. A resident of Bidaragudde village of the Honnali taluk, he was wanting to marry the daughter of a local resident named Prakash.
“However, both girl and Prakash rejected the marriage proposal. Irked by this, on Saturday, Devaraj attacked Prakash using a locally made revolver,” said police.
Two bullets had entered Prakash’s body. “Both have been retrieved and he is out of danger,” said police.
Devaraj has been arrested and charged with attempt to murder.
