Davangere: A woman thrashed the manager of a private finance firm in Davangere in full view of the public on Monday, October 15, for allegedly asking for sexual favours in exchange for sanctioning her loan.
The woman had been to the Dewan Housing Finance (DHF) Davangere branch on Monday, to apply for a loan of Rs 2 lakh. Seeing her poor financial condition, Devaiah, the branch manager said that he would help her and process her loan application despite this, but on the condition that she give him sexual favours.
The manager’s outrageous offer did not sit well with the woman, who immediately flew into a rage and dragged him out of his office by his collar. She then proceeded to rain punches and kicks on him in the middle of the road.
In the video captured by an onlooker, the woman can even be seen hitting him with a stick while questioning him on his behaviour and telling him to go with her to the police station. She is even seen telling the other onlookers what the manager had done. The video has been widely shared, making it go viral and has even caught the attention of national news portals.
In this #MeToo era, the woman has been lauded for her courage to stand up against sexual harassment.
For now, the accused was taken to the police station for questioning, although no official complaint has been filed in this regard.
