Honalli: On the accusation of closing the roads and causing inconvenience to the public during the time of protest for providing sand at lower rates, the Bharatiya Janata Party MLA M P Renukacharya was detained, here on Monday, December 3.
The police have detained Renukacharya on the basis of a verbal spat between him and the police during the Honnali bandh led by him, in which hundreds of the BJP party workers had participated.
Along with him, 10 other party workers too have been detained.
A call for bandh was also given demanding the establishment of corn, maize and paddy buying centres, inclusion of Honnali and Nyamati under the list of drought-hit areas and many others.
