Davangere: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said that the Congress will win in more than 20 districts in the zilla panchyat elections.
Speaking to reporters after attending a programme here on Tuesday, he said that the Congress unlike many other political parties believes in decentralisation of power and it was only due to attempts of the Congress that the Panchayat Raj system has been strengthened in the country.

“Some other political parties in the country do not believe in decentralisation of power and have hence only attempted to curb the power of the GRam Panchayats,” said the CM adding that the Congress party prioritised on giving power to women and youth by creating opportunities.

The Congress is completely prepared to face the taluk and zilla panchayat elections and it would go to the polls by taking every leader of the party into confidence, he added.

Names to be shortlisted
When asked about delay in announcement of candidates to Bidar, Raichur and Hebbal constituency bypolls, Siddaramaiah said that the party high command had appointed an observer for selection of candidates and the names would be shortlisted on the basis of the report of the observer.
