Udupi: The present rector of Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur Rev. Fr. Stany B. Lobo, has been appointed as the Chancellor of Udupi Diocese. The announcement at the Milagres Cathedral on May 20 also mentioned that he will take oath as the Chancellor from the Bishop of Udupi Diocese Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo on June 8. In addition to this Fr. Stany B. Lobo has been transferred from the Cathedral to St. Francis Xavier’s Church, Udyavar.
Rev Fr. Lawrence D’Souza, Secretary of Catholic Education Society of Udupi Diocese (CESU) will fill the present responsibilities of Fr. Stany B. Lobo as the Rector of Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur. Fr. Lawrence will assume responsibilities effectively from May 28, the announcement said.
Fr. Stany Lobo served as Rector of the Cathedral, Correspondents of Milagres Educational Institutions, Dean of Kallianpur Deanery and spiritual director of various associations of the parish and deanery. He was trasferred to the Milagres Cathedral prior to the declaration of a separate Udupi Diocese by the Pope. In his seven-year service here, Fr Lobo had taken up several developmental works including the renovation of the church, renovation of the church hall, renovation of cemetery entrance and so on.
Other transfers
Rev. Fr. Rolwin Joy Aranha, Assistant Parish Priest has been transferred to the Udyavara Church as the assistant parish priest. He served for four years at the Milagres Cathedral after his ordination. He will continue his studies for MSc (Physics) at Manipal.
Rev. Fr. Canute Noronha, Assistant Parish Priest of Shirva Church will take over as Assistant Parish Priest of Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur.
Rev. Fr. Herald Mathias, Superior and Director of Pilar Fathers has been transferred to Nagpur and Rev. Fr. Nelson Furtado, the Vocational Director of Pilar Fathers has been transferred to Europe for his missionary services.
