Udupi: Religious Day was observed at Milagres Cathedral on the occasion of its building Plantinum Jubilee celebrations at Kallianpur on Saturday, December 10.
The Eucharistic Mass was concelebrated by Rev Fr. Roshan Menezes Episcopal Vicar for Religious, Diocese of Udupi along with Msgr. Dr. Baptist Menezes Vicar General of Udupi Diocese, parishioners priests across India, parish assistant priests, Chaplain of Ozanum and Pilar Father Priests.
In his homily, Msgr Baptist Menezes pointed out the important missions of Jesus Christ. “Prayer, Love, Service and forgiveness are four missions given to priests and religious by Jesus. Priests are chosen by God. Jesus said to his disciples to be a prayerful person, a loving disciple, a serving disciple and a forgiving disciple,” he said.
After the mass, a get together of priests and religious nuns and felicitation programme was held at Milagres Tri Centenary Hall. Prof. Hilda Rodrigues, Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council on behalf of Parishioners and priests delivered her congratulatory remarks.
Msgr Baptist Menezes delivered the presidential address. On behalf of the Parishioners, priests and nuns Rev Fr. Wilfred Lewis, Rev Fr. George Lewis and Sr. Zean expressed their gratitude for organizing Religious Day.
The nuns and priests were honoured with mementos. Fr George Lewis distributed his edited book on method of praying without distraction of praying with divine peace, divine joy and divine sweetness to all the participants.
Walter Cyril Pinto, Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council proposed the vote of thanks. Rev Fr Prakash Anil Castelino compered the programme. Fr. Rolwin Aranha, Rev Fr. Henry Mascarenhas, Chaplain of Ozanam Home, Rev Fr. Herold Mathias and Rev Fr. Nelson Furtado of Pilar Fathers were present.
