Mangaluru: A Konkani religious drama captioned "Vinchovn Konachi" written by Fr Alwyn Serrao, principal, Padua College and directed by Christi Ninasam with Clanwin Fernandes as the associate director was staged by 18 priests from the Mangaluru Roman Catholic Diocese (Mangaluru and Belthangady Deaneries) at the Padua College Ground on Sunday March 10th. It was a clear Sunday Lenten night, and the grounds were packed with eager specatators.
The drama hearalded the dark days of Jesus Christ's sentencing and the release of the dreaded and repeat offender Barrabas from Prison. The drama enthralled the audience with its depiction and message.
J R Lobo, former MLA, Mangaluru South said, “Fr Alwyn is excellent in drama writing. I have watched many of his dramas. All his dramas end with a moral which is very important for every individual. It is great to see some talented and like- minded priests coming together and staging a drama. I appreciate their efforts. Through this, they aim to spread moral values in the society. I congratulate them and their technical team. Hope the drama will bring a new revolution in drama field.”
Fr Bonaventure Nazareth, vicar forane, Beltangady deanery, welcomed the gathering. Fr Alwyn Serrao delivered the introductory speech on the drama.
