Mangaluru: The ICYM Central Council Annual Elections of Mangalore Diocese for the year 2019 -20 was held during the 72nd Annual General Body Meeting at Milagres PU College Hall on Sunday, July 7. The 72nd Annual General Body Meeting and elections commenced with the Holy Eucharistic Celebration at 9.45 AM.
The main celebrant of the Holy Eucharistic celebration was Yuvaspoorthi Rev. Fr. Ronald Prakash D'Souza, Director, ICYM Mangalore Diocese along with Rev. Fr. Ashwin Lohith Cardoza, Designated Director, ICYM Mangalore Diocese followed by the 72nd Annual General Body Meeting of ICYM Central Council Mangalore Diocese which commenced at 11 AM. Jaison Periera, Shirthday-President, ICYM Mangalore Diocese welcomed the guests and the gathering. Rev. Fr. Micheal Santhumayor, Principal, Milagres PU College was welcomed with a bouquet by Yuvaspoorthi Rev. Fr. Ronald Prakash D'Souza on the occasion.
Fevisha Monteiro, Ranipura Diocesan General Secretary, ICYM Mangalore Diocese read out the report of the 71st Annual General Body Meeting and elections. ICYM Central Council Diocesan Election was held from 12.30 PM to 1.45 PM under the guidance of Diocesan Chief Election Commissioner Rev. Fr. Vijay Victor Lobo, Procurator of Mangalore Diocese who briefed out the rules and regulations pertaining to the election process along with the Election Committee members and the election was carried out smoothly, followed by the lunch. The Annual General Body Meeting was compered by Roshan Rocco, Secretary, ICYM City Deanery (2018-19).
After the post-lunch session, the youths exhibited their talents with a cultural programme. The much-awaited election with huge expectations provided nail-biting results which were announced by the Diocesan Chief Election Commissioner Rev. Fr. Vijay Victor Lobo. The elected members are as follows, Leon Loyd Saldanha, Bendoor-President, Francis Monteiro, Siddakatte-Vice President, Blairil Vishma D'Cunha, Cascia -Lady Vice President, Veena Vas, Shakthinagar-General Secretary, Ajith Pinto, Permude-Joint Secretary, Vivan S Fernandes, Madanthyar-Treasurer and Vijay Crasta Bela-Auditor.
The concluding ceremony of 72nd Annual General Body Meeting and elections commenced at 4 PM. Jaison Periera, Shirthday–President, ICYM Mangalore Diocese welcomed the guests and the gathering. Fevisha Monteiro, Ranipura, Diocesan General Secretary, ICYM Mangalore Diocese read out the annual report of the year 2018 -19. The concluding ceremony was presided over by Most. Rev. Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore Diocese. He appreciated the youth for their collective work and service to the society and addressed the gathering about Bandutva. Laudato Si Campaign and Environmental protection, Water Resource Management, applauded the youths for accomplishing K2K mission with a great success. Lancy D'Cunha, National President, AICU along with Rev. Fr. Ronald Prakash D'Souza, Director, ICYM Mangalore Diocese and Rev. Fr. Ashwin Lohith Cardoza, Designated Director, ICYM Mangalore Diocese were present as the guests of honour.
The oath was administered by Rev. Fr. Ronald Prakash D'Souza. Jesvita Quadras, Angelore, Former National President, YCS/YSM India (2016-19) was honoured on the occasion for representing India at the International Youth Forum (Post Syndol Forum Meeting), Rome and Denzil Jerome Periera, Kelerai for securing a government job. Executive and Council Members of ICYM Central Council were felicitated for their selfless service during the year 2018- 2019. Meanwhile, five wedded couples were felicitated for their selfless service in the past years as the Diocesan executive members. Seven outstanding youth achievers were honoured with 'ICYM Awards - 2019' for their achievements in various fields. The youth achievers are as follows: Joyson Sandesh Lobo, Kirem in the field of Water Resource Management, Jaison Jeevan Sequeira, Gurpur in the field of Music, Rayan Pinto,Moodbidri-Business, Neha Supreetha Suvares, Surathkal-Education, Flavia Jyothi D'Souza, Surthakal-Science and Innovation, Neetha Braggs, Vamanjoor in the field of Sports, Steven Wilson Goveas, Bondel-Self Employment. Top 10 best ICYM Units were awarded with the Best Unit awards. The units are as follows: 1st place-ICYM Madanthyar Unit, 2nd place-ICYM Narampady Unit, 3rd place-ICYM Venur Unit, 4th place-ICYM Moodbidri Unit, 5th place-ICYM Shirthady Unit, 6th place-ICYM Bela Unit, 7th place-ICYM Maniyampare Unit, 8th place-ICYM Manjotti Unit, 9th place-ICYM Mulki Unit, 10th place-ICYM Ujire Unit and ICYM Kirem Unit.
On this auspicious day, Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha inaugurated one-to-one and job opportunity programme as well as the fundraising campaign as a project for building houses for the poor families by releasing CDs of Konkani devotional songs. The Bishop felicitated the participants of 'Selfie' with Soldier, Red Drop Campaign and awarded prizes to the winners of poster painting competition organised by AICU in collaboration with ICYM and Mangala Jyothi.
A portrait sketch of Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha was handed over to Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha as a gift on behalf of the youths of Mangalore Diocese. Yuva spoorthi Rev. Fr. Ronald Prakash D'Souza and Rev. Fr. Ashwin Lohith Cardoza were honoured on the occasion for their marvellous service as the directors of ICYM Mangalore Diocese. Fevisha Monteiro, Ranipura, Diocesan General Secretary, ICYM Mangalore Diocese proposed a vote of thanks. Rohan Lewis, Madanthyar compered the programme. More than 400 youth were present in the programme. The programme concluded with ICYM anthem.
