Kochi: Pontiff of Kashi Math, Sri Sayamdindra Teerth Sripadam begins Chaturmasa in Kochi Tirumala temple.
Chaturmasa is an auspicious four-month period starting from Ashadha Shukla Dashami to Kartika Shukla Purnima. The months of Shravana, Bhadrapada, Ashvina, and Kartika fall under this period.
Chaturmasa is reserved for penance, austerities, fasting, bathing in holy rivers, and religious observances for all the devotees. This is a suitable time for devotees to have an annual renewal of faith by listening to discourses on dharma, and by meditation and Vruta.
The Gowda Saraswat Brahmin community following the Kashi Math can attend the several functions held during Chaturmasa by visiting Kochi Tirumala Temple. Swamiji will perform the Bhajan programmes, Poojas, and Veda Parayana every day in the temple.
“On Ashada Bahula Panchami Samhita Kalasha, Kakanabhisheka, Visheshalankara (Special decorations), Mudradharana, and stage events will be performed. All the devotees, especially GSB youth must participate in all these religious activities,” said Swamiji.
