Bengaluru: Gangadhareshwara Saraswati Swamiji of Swarnavalli Math has expressed concern over the single child policy among Havyak Brahmins, which may lead to the community going extinct in a matter of a few years and also the rising instances of inter-caste marriages, which may split families.

Addressing the gathering after inaugurating a new building at Malleshwaram by Havyak Mahasabha, he said that the two issues are of grave importance needing immediate attention of the community members.

“Organisations have to act now to control these issues,” he said.

“Havyaks used to perform Pancha Yajnas, but now it is limited to Pooja and Sandhyopasana. Minimum Geetadhyayana and Pranayama should be performed like austerity. Mahasabha should conduct Geeta Parayana daily. Good culture cleanses the human mind,” he said.
