New Delhi: The National President of the All India Catholic Union (AICU), Lancy D’Cunha, expressing solidarity with the victims of the ghastly serial bomb blasts in Sri Lanka’s Churches and hotels on Easter Sunday said, “The members of AICU unequivocally condemn the dastardly and anti-human act. Attack on religious places, that too during religious festivals such as Easter, is anti-God and anti-civilization. To associate such persons with any faith would be most sacrilegious to the faith of their own. Therefore, members of the AICU appeal to the people of all faiths to disown and condemn such barbarous individuals and groups.”

The members further appealed to the governments and law-enforcement agencies across the globe to be more vigilant and take effective precautionary measures making it impossible for any terrorist groups to wreak havoc on the lives and property of civil society.

Considering that Sri Lanka is India’s immediate neighbor, the members have proposed the formation of a high-level delegation consisting of various faiths to explore the possibilities of cooperation and to express solidarity with the bereaved families.

The members of AICU have appealed to the Sri Lankan Government to conduct a thorough inquiry and take stern action against the persons and groups responsible for the ghastly serial bomb blasts.

The members hope and pray that peace-loving citizens of the universe, irrespective of their religion, caste or creed, come forward to save humanity and maintain social harmony and peace in the world.
