Mangaluru: As part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Church of St. Joseph the Worker, Neermarga an all-religion conference was held on April 25 under the leadership of Most Rev. Francis Serrao, Bishop of Shivamogga diocese.
In his address, Bishop Serrao appealed to the people not to use religion for political purposes and said, “Let the life of St .Joseph the Worker inspire us to lead a humane life.”
In his message, the pontiff of Sri Mahalaxmi Kshetra Shreedhama Manila, Mohandas Paramhamsa Swami said, “We are the children of the same god. As his children, we should be united in our morality. We should follow human values and desist from harming or hurting others. We should also cultivate positive thinking in our lives.”
Congratulating the people on this occasion, Islamic scholar Maulana Y K Abdul Aziz Darimi said that India was a humane and peaceful country. “Peace resides where god exists. We ultimately harvest whatever we sow in the society”, he said.
The parish priest of the church Rev. Fr. Anil D’Mello welcomed the gathering. Parish Pastoral Parishad Vice President Prakash Pereira proposed a vote of thanks. Parish Secretary Gerald Lobo and convener of golden jubilee committee Arun D’Souza were present.
Devdas Kapikad and team presented a Tulu play “Aduru Kopa” after the formal ceremony.
