Chitradurga: A man, whose political aspirations could not take off, ended up behind bars for allegedly writing an anonymous letter threatening Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

The arrested is Shankarappa, a resident of Davangere, a college dropout and a habitual anonymous letter writer!

The letter, which was handed over to District Minister H Anjaneya’s office, stated that the CM was “targetted”. When the letter was handed over to SP M N Anucheth, within no time, the cops traced Shankarappa.

It was later found that Shankarappa had the habit of writing letters to well known people stating that he was a terrorist and they were his targets.

Nurturing political aspirations, the same man has contacted various political leaders, but nothing fell in place.

SP Anucheth, who had formed four teams to trace the  man, said the letter was  given to Anjaneya during the silver jubilee celebrations of the Dr Shivamurthy Murugha Sharana’s ascending of the Murugha Mutt on February 23.

It was also found that politicians like JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy and Siddaramaiah and various pontiffs of the district were also “targeted” by him.

Chitradurga Rural police arrested the man and registered a case.

Tests have confirmed that he is sane.
