Chitradurga: Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed the Congress and Janata Dal (S)-led state coalition government here on Tuesday, April 9, at the Bharatiya Janata Party rally.

Beginning his speech in Kannada and greeting the people, he taunted the state coalition government and said, “The people of the state are still trying to understand as to who is in power in the state or who is running the government. Congress and JDS are busy trying to console each other. It is truly sad that a government which has to look after the people of the state is busy taking care of its internal issues.”

Slamming the coalition government on its allegations of vote bank politics against him, he said, “Our security forces have given a befitting reply to our enemy nation Pakistan as a strong retaliation to the Pulwama attack but some people in our country are not happy about the revenge attack.”

“If we speak about the airstrikes conducted by the Indian Air Force (IAF) on Pakistan, these people can’t tolerate it and accuse us of vote bank politics. I want to ask Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy if he is with the people of the country and security forces or Pakistan. Does he have a vote bank in Pakistan?”

He also criticised the United Progressive Alliance (UPA)-led Congress government which was in power for a decade.

PM Modi said, “When the Congress was in power it was involved in a series of scams and had not won the trust of the people. Instead of country becoming rich, their families became rich. The people of the country do not want such a government.”

Meanwhile, he assured the people of the district that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA)-led BJP government was working on transforming the district into a smart city.
