Chitradurga: Last week, Chitradurga MP and BJP Dalit leader A Narayanaswamy faced discrimination, something that has been banned by our Constitution.
He was stopped from entering the hatti (hamlets) of Golla families in Pemmanahalli Gollarahatti, near Pavagada, because he belonged to the Madiga community.
This discrimination against a Member of Parliament led to a debate across the entire country. The incident became a major embarrassment for Karnataka and senior officials rushed to the village.
Now, after a discussion with the officials and education by the community elders, the residents have changed their ways and rectified their mistake.
On Monday, Narayanaswamy was invited to the same hatti and this time, he was welcomed with a poorna kumbha. The people of the hatti stood in a queue and apologised to the MP for their behaviour. Narayanaswamy accepted the apology and announced that he will work hard for their development.
