Woman who returned from Mecca loses life, COVID-19 test results awaited

Chikkaballapura: A 75-year-old woman passed away due to respiratory complications on Wednesday, March 25. She had recently returned from Mecca and was home quarantined from March 15 in Chikkaballapura, according to state health minister B Sreeramulu.

He explained that the elderly woman had died at around 1 AM on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. Her samples have been sent for COVID-19 testing and the results are awaited.

The minister added that the septuagenarian was suffering from diabetes, chest pain and a hip fracture. “We will know the cause of death after we receive the medical examination reports,” Sreeramulu explained.

So far, there have been 41 confirmed COVID-19 positive cases in Karnataka, of which one died and three have recovered.

At the national level, there are over 560 cases.
