Chikkaballapur: The industrial effluents released into the water set a lake on fire in Gowribidanur town here on Thursday, January 3.

The effluents which flow out of the industries in Bengaluru which is few kilometers away accumulates here in this lake. During sunny days when there is a rise in temperature, the inflammable effluents catch flames and burn uncontrollably.

The same has been happening here from the past two days.

The fire fighters tried their best to contain the fire.

Many animals and birds have died consuming water from this lake and it has been deemed ‘unfit’ for human consumption.
