Chikkaballapura: Karnataka Health Minister K Sudhakar said on Wednesday, May 12 that the Karnataka government has sought information from health experts about a ‘black fungus’ found among Covid patients in the state.

Addressing media at Chikkaballapura, he said, “I discussed submitting a comprehensive study on black fungus in two days with the technical advisory committee and clinicians. We’ll make a decision based on that.”

The minister was responding to a question about media reports that black fungus, also known as mucormycosis, is on the rise among Covid-19 patients in some states, including Karnataka.

He said the government wants to know more details about the disease and its treatment.
