Chikkaballapura: In a heartening gesture, Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court Abhay Shreeniwas Oka stepped aside and made way for an attender to inaugurate a Court building, on Saturday evening at Chikkaballapur.

The newly built red imposing building of the Court was all set to be inaugurated about 60 km away from Bengaluru by Karnataka HC Chief Justice Abhay Shreeniwas Oka.

However, it was not Oka who cut the ribbon, instead, he asked the court’s senior-most attender Jayaraj Timoti to cut the ribbon and inaugurate the building.

The gathering was elated to see such a gesture. Each and everyone, including Chikkaballapur MLA Sudhakar, who was present at the event have praised such a positive gesture of Justice Oka.

Jayaraj Timoti told TOI that he was not aware that something like that was going to happen.”I was fighting emotions. I really tried very hard,” said Timoti, who has been working as an attender in various courts of the State over the last twenty years.

The event left an ever-lasting memory in the hearts and minds of the people.
