Hesaraghatta: A girl, who had opposed the child marriage and taken a bold decision of leaving the house and coming to Bengaluru, with her determination and hard work, has secured 90 percent marks in her Pre University Board examination.
Rekha, a resident of Kotturu village of Chikkaballapur district, Bagepalli town, is the girl who had left her family, due to pressure of marriage even before attaining the age of 18 years. She had taken shelter at an NGO.
Rekha comes from an economically weaker section. Her mother works as a labourer. Even though she had achieved 74 percent in the SSLC Board exams, her family could not afford her further education, which left them with only one option-marriage.
As she realised that her education would be affected, she called a helpline number of a Trust and discussed her issues. The Trust made arrangements for her PUC education and admitted her to Bailanjaneya Pre University College.
Rekha has secured cent percent marks in the PU History paper.
She has also taken training in computers.
Meanwhile, the trust has congratulated her for the achievement.
