Chikkaballapur: Alleging that the party had given prominence to money over sincerity, Bagepalli Assembly Constituency ticket aspirant and former MLA N Sampangi who missed the race to the ticket came down heavily on Congress high command and MP Veerappa Moily.
Speaking to media persons, Sampagi expressed his disappointment about the party giving ticket to S N Subbareddy, who allegedly helped to defeat Congress candidate in the last election. “After defeating CPM in a Gram Panchayat elections in 1998, we organized the party from village-level. I worked as KPCC General Secretary as well. However, seniors didn’t consider this,” he added.
“When Veerappa Moily wanted to contest to Lokasabha from this region in 2009, after facing three consecutive defeats from Mangalore, we cooperated with him to save the party. Though many local leaders were against him, we worked for him. As a result, he got 26,000 votes from Bagepalli constituency. After being selected as Union minister he also said that ‘Sampangi gave me political rebirth after 14 years gap’. But, this is what we got from him,” he said.
“There are no corruption charges against me. If the party cheats sincere Congressmen like us, there are many followers who believe us. The party can still change the decision, otherwise, I will discuss with the followers regarding the next step,” Sampangi said emotionally.
