Bengaluru: The CPM is known as a cadre-based political party and there is no room for any rebellion. But in the state unit, the party is now facing a big crisis with several leaders trying to sideline former MLA and party leader GV Shrirama Reddy. Now 50 of his supporters have submitted their resignations to the Chikkaballapur district unit.
Reddy, twice elected MLA from Gudibande is considered the tallest leader in the party’s state unit. However, he is now being sidelined in the name of giving an opportunity to young faces.
According to the sources, Reddy’s supporters want the party to assure him and them that he will be given a ticket to contest in the 2023 assembly election also. But the party is planning a induct a new face. This has led to a feud within the party.
This development comes as a big embarrassment for the CPM which is known as the most disciplined party. Many fear that this rebellion may also affect the labor movement in the state as most labor unions are affiliated to the party.
