Chamarajnagar: Kannada activist Vatal Nagaraj has demanded that Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa resign from his post as the state government is responsible for the deaths of those infected due to lack of oxygen at Chamarajanagar District Hospital.

Speaking to reporters while on his visit to Chamarajanagar, he said that the state government should give the family of the deceased, Rs 10 lakh each as compensation. He said that serving High Court judge should be appointed to conduct investigation on this matter and not by a KSRTC official, he took a jibe.

What happened in Chamarajanagar is very painful. “The dead are dead is the attitude of the government. Who is responsible for this death? How does this government system works is what matters. I am not him is the attitude the authorities have displayed in the case of Chamarajanagar and thus have tried to move away from their responsibilities, which is really sad, he asserted.

“A health minister came and gave a lip service, the relatives took away the dead bodies of the deceased and there is no news of district in-charge minister. In Chamarajanagar no one knows nothing and are behaving according to their whims and fancies,” he said. He said that Coronavirus infection is rapidly spreading from day to day. Chief Minister should not merely talk sitting at the Kaveri Bhavan, but should monitor workings of each deputy commissioner of the districts in the state.

“What is the fate of Chamarajanagar? The required authorities are not visiting the place. Your administration, and the government, is responsible for the incident,” he said and demanded that Yediyurappa should resign if he has a bit of respect towards the departed at Chamarajanagar .
