Chamarajanagar: A nail-biting incident of a wild elephant attacking a car in the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border area Mudumalai, was reported on Thursday, May 9.

A car which was passing the border area on Thursday morning encountered a wild elephant which, all of a sudden, had come running out of the forest, making its way to the main road.

Fortunately, the car driver who had already observed the elephant rushing towards the car managed a narrow escape from the raging tusker. Because of his presence of mind, the tourists who were in the car have escaped the jaws of death.

Due to this incident, the other tourists are panic-stricken.

Normally, there is a dense vehicular movement in the Madumalai area. The people travelling from Gundlupet town to Kerala and Ooty, have to pass by this road.

The movement of elephants is common on this stretch, but the only thing that is worrying the tourists plying here is the unpredictable behaviour of the tuskers. They can sometimes get fatally aggressive.
