Gundlupet: The lakes in Terekanambi hobli had virtually turned into a playground with no water for over six months.
The villagers from Terekanambi and nearby villages of Balachavadi and Shyanadrahalli had made several requests to the authorities to supply water to the drying lakes.
The ground water level in the bore wells too had dipped after the lakes started drying up and the entire region had become “water starved” giving no respite to cattle as well.
Finally people approached the district administration through Chamarajanagar Member of Parliament R Dhruvnaryan on February 20. He instructed the authorities to supply water from the nearby river to tide over the crisis after assessing the situation.
The lakes in the hobli started receiving water from a nearby river from February 20 and children were seen rushing towards lakes to get a feel of water.
Villagers also heaved a sigh of relief after water started entering dry lakes in the area.
