Chamarajanagar: After the death of another of the Sulvadi temple prasadam victims on Saturday, the death toll has now risen to 17.

The deceased has been identified as Rangan (45), a resident of the Doreswamy Medu village in the district. After the horrific incident, he was on life support at Suyog Hospital in Mysuru, till he breathed his last on Saturday noon.

On December 14, pesticide-laced prasadam was fed to hundreds of devotees of the Kichuguthu Maramma Temple of Sulvadi village.

It was later learnt that the temple priest had cooked up the plan to poison the people in order to embarrass the temple management as revenge. He and three others were recently arrested by police in this connection.
