Parts of Chamarajanagar district witness effects of Cyclone Fani

Chamarajanagar: As Cyclone Fani is approaching closer to the coast of Tamil Nadu with intense winds, the effects are also being felt in the district. On Sunday, April 28, the district experienced heavy downpours along with gusty winds.

The rains were also experienced in the Bandipur area, which falls on the borders of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Villages of the Gundlupet town like Kannegala and Bheemanabeedu have also experienced similar winds with rains. Due to this, several coconut trees were uprooted and metal sheets of several shops were blown away. At some places, the electric poles too have been damaged.

Roof tops of several houses in the Kannegala village have been blown and trees have also been uprooted.

Kollegal, Yelandur, Hanur and several other places have also experienced heavy rainfall.

So far, no deaths or casualties have been reported.
