Man commits suicide along with his family members fearing COVID-19 spread

Chamarajanagar: In a shocking incident four members of a family committed suicide on Tuesday night at Mookanahalli near here.

The deceased identified as Mahadevappa (47) his wife Mangalamma (40) children Jyothi (16) and Shruthi (12).

Both parents working as agricultural labourers, the family also have one and half acre land. Twenty days back Mahadevappa infected with coronavirus and quarantined at home.

Neighbour Kumar informed that the family facing financial crisis owing to lockdown. On Wednesday morning a labourer went to Mahadevappas house to call them for work, got no response. Police broke open the door found all the four hanging from the roof of the house.

SP Divya Sara Thomas who visited the spot told reporters that prima facie it seems suicide. The reason for death
known after autopsy. Chamarajanagar east police registered a case and investigating.
