Chamrajanagar: A jumbo from the wild has taken everyone by surprise by turning a staunch devotee of the deity Himavad Gopalaswmy atop the hills in Gundlupet taluk.
The religious shrine located atop the hill in the midst of natural greenery attracts thousands of tourists and devotees throughout the year.
People arrive at the temple from various places and normally leave the premises before sunset around 5 PM. They leave behind their offerings in the form of coconuts, bananas offered to the deity before their departure.
The wild jumbo quietly climbs the footsteps en route to the shrine breaking the silence of the tranquil surroundings to relish the leftovers and bow to the deity in reverence on regular basis. It does not trouble few people including security men, devotees present in the vicinity and regular visitors are surprised by the unique behaviour of the guest from the wild.
