Gundlupete: A Gram Panchayat (GP) member and his son were attacked by opponents using acid in Gopalapura village limits, in a case related to obtaining fresh lease for matt land cultivation.
G P Swamy and his son Sudarshan suffered injuries in the attack but are reportedly out of danger.
The 5-year-old lease agreement between the Bikku Matt and the former cultivator had expired on March 31. Matt authorities refused to renew the old lease and favoured GP member Swamy for the next term. After obtaining the fresh 5-year lease, GP member Swamy and his son started cultivating in the plot on April 5, during which time acid was thrown on the father-son duo,injuring both.
Swamy has registered a complaint holding Rajamma and Guruswamappa responsible for the acid attack.
